FURTHER INFORMATION

Veterans reside within our society often unknown and can have mental or physical scars both visible and non visible that lead to a serious impact on their lives and the lives of those around them.

The current scale of the problem is unclear as no one organisation can confirm the numbers of veterans who are living with PTSD. Research that has been carried out suggests that around 6% of veterans have some form of PTSD but this figure is only taken from those individuals who have sought help for their illness.

Having spoken to numerous organisations aimed at assessing aiding and in some case providing treatment for veterans with mental health issues it has become very apparent that there is an immediate need for more to be done that will tackle the issue head on and provide longterm support that doesn’t suddenly end when a set course of treatment or advice has been exhausted.

Each individual who work with DRAMATIC will continue to have the support and a means of continuing their personal journey.

We aim to create and facilitate public performances that will bring the issue into the public domain and highlight the social issues faced by suffering from PTSD and trauma.

As individuals each person engaged with Dramatic Freedom Through Acting LTD will have the opportunity to learnt new skills and gain knowledge which they can draw upon to help them step aside from the debilitating effects of PTSD. This creative journey along with peer support can bring about a positive change to an individuals outlook. They can find and learn new ways to challenge themselves and discover how to share their personal journey allowing for a better understanding of how they can deal with having and living with PTSD.

This direct social impact will also help each individuals family, friends and the wider community.
